Mystery, Babylon the Great (who is ?)

Revelation 17 is all about the judgement of Mystery, Babylon the Great, including lots of background information leading up to this judgement, and even some looking into the future after this judgement.

But exactly who is Mystery, Babylon the Great ? We have 2 good candidates:

1. The UN/USA, with the UN based in New York City, matches a lot of the criteria given in the Bible for Mystery Babylon, because, for mostly political and financial power reasons, the UN/USA has been trying to ride / control / sit on the emerging [scarlet] Beast ( the revived Roman Empire political system, the emerging European Union [the EU] ).

In addition, there are many present day prophecies describing judgements that the UN/USA is to soon receive, which have many similarities and parallels to scenarios described in Revelation 17.

2. The Roman Catholic Church, based in Rome (the Vatican), appears to match all of the criteria given in the Bible for Mystery Babylon, because, for mostly religious power reasons, the RCC has been trying to ride / control / sit on the emerging [scarlet] Beast ( the revived Roman Empire political system, the emerging European Union [the EU] ), in hopes of controlling the revived Roman Empire religious system, and the emerging World Religion [WR] (the Sea Beast).

Even though both candidates above

are trying to ride / control / sit on the emerging [scarlet] Beast, and

may suffer very similar judgements,

we can observe the similarities, but ultimately we must conclude that the Bible is referring to

the Roman Catholic Church as the real Mystery, Babylon the Great.

This Sea Beast prophecy, says that the Sea Beast becomes the Pope. Thus the Pope (the Sea Beast) is given the power (by Satan (in Rev 13:2)) to make war with the saints (initiated by Satan in Rev 12:17). When Mystery Babylon (the Roman Catholic Church) [the RCC] is judged (burned with fire (Rev 17:16) by 10 kings that hate her), we can assume that the Sea Beast (the Pope) (with Satan's power) no longer has need of the Roman Catholic Church, nor Catholicism.

Revelation 17: In the table below we explore Revelation 17 verse by verse, and we can see why some present day prophets say: "If you want the see what is about to happen to the UN/USA, just read what is going to happen to Mystery, Babylon in Revelation 17 of the Bible."

Summary: The Woman (Mystery Babylon) [M-B] [temporarily] sits upon the Scarlet Beast [the revived Roman Empire political system (the emerging European Union political system [the EU ] ) ]. 10 kings shall hate the whore (Mystery Babylon), and burn her [M-B] with fire (the judgment of the great whore [M-B] ).

Introduction: The scarlet beast is the revived Roman Empire political system (the newly formed European Union (the EU)), which consists of the same nations that made up the ancient Roman Empire. The ancient Roman Empire (the scarlet beast that was) [received a deadly wound?] and has been dead for almost 2,000 years (and is not), and has now come together again as the revived Roman Empire (the EU) (and yet is (Rev 17:8 ... behold the [scarlet] beast [EU] that was, and is not, and yet is.)).

Background: The Woman (Mystery, Babylon the Great [M-B] , the Roman Catholic Church, the revived Roman Empire religious system) has been trying to ride / control / sit on the emerging [scarlet] Beast ( the revived Roman Empire political system, the emerging European Union [the EU] ), in hopes of controlling World Religion [WR] (the Sea Beast).

Prior to the entry of the Sea Beast [WR], World Religion encompassed the efforts of all religions to unify into a common World Religion, including, but not limited to, Roman Catholicism, the Roman Catholic Church, Ecumenism, the Ecumenical Movement, Ecumenical organizations, the National Council of Churches, the World Council of Churches, the New Age Movement, etc.

Christ's congregation (the body of Christ), has no place in a common World Religion devised by men.

As a result of Mystery, Babylon the Great [M-B] being judged here in Revelation 17, the Sea Beast [WR] becomes the focus of all World Religion efforts.

Under pressure from US and world leaders, Israel completed its historic withdrawal of 25 settlements from the Gaza Strip and a corner of the West Bank on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 [8/23/05].
Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast of the USA 6 days later on Monday, August 29, 2005 [8/29/05].

USA Invaded & Attacked by Communist States & governments ( ~ 2009 - 2011)

The result is that the USA is now trillions of dollars in debt.

Mystery, Babylon the Great [M-B] (referred to as a woman in the Bible) sits upon the Scarlet Beast [EU] (also see this relationship from the viewpoint of the Scarlet Beast )

a scarlet colored beast (the revived Roman Empire political system (the emerging European Union political system, the EU), which, in addition to the UN, is also seeking to establish the New World Order (NWO) worldwide) ( Rev 17:3 Rev 17:7-11 ).

Because of the USA's military might and foreign spending, the UN/USA (the woman?) is currently able to sit upon this emerging beast.

The Statue of Liberty (a woman) (a symbol of the USA) stands over New York City where the UN meets in its role of reigning over the kings of the earth (Rev 17:18).

But the UN/USA's (the woman's?) riding of this beast will be short lived, because:

Ten kings associated with the Communist states and governments shall

hate the whore [UN/USA], and

shall make her [UN/USA] desolate and naked, and

shall eat her flesh, and

burn her [UN/USA] with fire [nuclear attack?] (Rev 17:16).

For God has put in their [the 10 kings] hearts to fulfill His [God's] will (Rev 17:17).]

Babylon is now under the USA: As a result of the USA war with Iraq (that began March 19, 2003),

the USA is now the sovereign ruling power over the Bible's literal city of Babylon, which is located in Iraq. (i.e. The USA's ruling jurisdiction includes itself, with similarities and parallels to Mystery, Babylon the Great, and now literal Babylon as well.) Therefore, it could now be said that if the USA is judged (falls), (or later be said that if the RCC is judged), then "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen" (Rev 14:8, Rev 18:2), with Mystery, Babylon (in Rev 17) being the 1st "is fallen," and much later the Bible's literal city of Babylon (the Great) (in Rev 18) being the 2nd "is fallen."

However, as shown in the table above,

rather than the UN/USA [UN/USA],

the Roman Catholic Church [the RCC], headquartered in the Vatican in Rome, is a much "better fit" candidate for the Bible's real Mystery, Babylon the Great in Revelation 17.
